Zimbabwean Embroidery and Paintings

Kutsinhira acquired these beautiful hand-crafted wall hangings from the Zimbabwe Artists Project (ZAP) in Portland, Oregon. ZAP is a US-based nonprofit which partners with Zimbabwean artists with the goal of strengthening self-sufficiency, building cultural understanding and creating educational opportunities. The artists are primarily women from the rural area of Weya in eastern Zimbabwe. The paintings utilize sadza, a porridge-like paste of maize or wheat-meal which is also a traditional staple food of Zimbabwe.

Proceeds from sales benefit Kutsinhira’s Zimbabwe Community Development Program.
