She received her MFA from the University of New Mexico and is currently an Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Florida. Her creative research centers on the intersections between gender, power and ritual.
These themes inform her choreography and performance. She conducts community based participatory research to promote sustainable development projects through cultural arts production.

Napoleon Kudzie Jambwa was born and raised in Highfield, Harare and grew up steeped in Zimbabwe’s musical traditions. Taught his first mbira song by his father at age five, he went on to master marimba, ngoma, hosho, and a range of modern instruments, and added traditional Zimbabwean dance, to his vast repertoire.
